Court halts Laan van Vlaanderen traffic closure: road to remain open for now

A judge has overturned peak-hour traffic restrictions on Laan van Vlaanderen in Amsterdam, ruling that the city council's decision lacked sufficient justification and a proper balance of interests. Consequently, the traffic closure has been temporarily lifted and all fines issued since May 1, 2024, will be canceled. The city plans to reintroduce the measure once a new traffic order with better substantiation is prepared.
