Vandalized statue on Houtplein in Haarlem to be restored: "We won't be defeated"
The 'Hirondelle' sculpture on Houtplein in Haarlem is being repaired after it was intentionally vandalized in mid-April. Stichting de Beeldengalerij and artist Jackie Sleper have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise 2,000 euros for the restoration. The foundation is determined to restore the artwork and continue displaying public art despite a lack of municipal funding or insurance for the damage.
