Lease signed: Ruigoord can stay for another 25 years

The Ruigoord artist village near Amsterdam has secured its future for the next 25 years after signing a new lease agreement with the Port of Amsterdam and the city municipality. Effective from January 1, 2026, the contract provides stability until at least 2051, resolving years of uncertainty caused by industrial expansion plans in the surrounding port area. While the agreement allows for the construction of new artist studios, it also introduces specific safety restrictions on the use of the village's central church.
