This trash can – designed for deposit hunters – aims to keep the streets clean

The Amsterdam municipality is testing a new waste bin design featuring magnetic, self-closing doors to allow "deposit hunters" to easily search for recyclable bottles without damaging the containers. This pilot project aims to reduce street litter and prevent vandalism by ensuring the bins are accessible yet remain closed after use. If the initial trial of eight bins proves successful, the city plans to replace all existing public trash cans with the new model.
