Sexyland gets permanent home and returns to its NDSM roots in 2027

Sexyland has signed a ten-year lease to return to its roots at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam, with plans to open a permanent venue called Super Sexyland World by 2027. The renovated space will include flexible event halls, a restaurant, and an exhibition area designed to foster a wide range of artistic and social projects.

The cultural collective Sexyland has secured a permanent home by signing a ten-year lease at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam, returning to the site of its 2017 origins. The organization will occupy the former NDSM Theater, which is currently being renovated to create an intricate space referred to as Super Sexyland World. The new facility will feature a large soundproof hall capable of hosting 250 guests, a smaller secondary room, a restaurant, and an expansive outdoor terrace for exhibitions and events. Scheduled to open in 2027, the project aims to retain the collective's characteristic experimental spirit while providing a stable, professional environment for diverse artistic initiatives.

Since its inception, Sexyland has been known for its unique concept of rotating daily ownership, allowing different individuals to host anything from social gatherings to art installations. Following the closure of their previous location in 2024, the team organized various pop-up events across the city while searching for a permanent base. Co-founder Aukje Dekker describes the upcoming space as a collaborative, evolving artwork that invites both local creators and international performers to participate.
