Cultural center Sexyland gets permanent temporary location at NDSM

The cultural clubhouse Sexyland has secured a new ten-year home at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam, where it will operate under the name Super Sexyland World. After spending over a year without a permanent location, the organization plans to complete renovations and open the venue to the public in the spring of 2027.

The cultural clubhouse Sexyland is set to return to its roots in the Amsterdam Noord district after securing a permanent home at the NDSM wharf. Following a lengthy search that lasted over eighteen months, the organization signed a contract to utilize the NDSM Theater for the next decade. Renamed Super Sexyland World, the venue is currently undergoing renovations to accommodate a variety of creative initiatives, with an official opening anticipated in the spring of 2027.

After leaving its previous location at Noordwal in December 2024, the artistic group functioned as a nomadic entity, hosting events in diverse settings ranging from community centers to festival grounds. Founders and team members expressed relief and excitement regarding the new agreement, noting that a ten-year commitment provides a stability similar to ownership. Upon completion of the renovation process, the space intends to operate as an inclusive environment where artists and the public can engage in daily changing programs, marking a homecoming to the site where the project first launched in 2017.
