A 25-year-old driver was arrested in Heemstede after testing positive for cannabis during a traffic stop. Police additionally seized five nitrous oxide cylinders and soft drugs from his vehicle.

A 25-year-old driver from Amstelveen was arrested early this morning on Zandvoortselaan in Heemstede after police stopped his vehicle due to an expired inspection certificate. Upon being pulled over around 2:00 AM, the driver and his passenger, also 25 and from Heemskerk, failed to provide a clear explanation for their presence in the area. Authorities subsequently administered a saliva test, which returned a positive result for cannabis consumption.

Following the positive drug test, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered five full nitrous oxide cylinders and additional soft drugs, all of which were confiscated by the police. A further blood test is now pending to confirm the presence of substances in the driver's system as the investigation continues.
