Join Noord aan Zet

The Haarlem municipality is seeking community project proposals for Haarlem Noord to enhance the neighborhood's social and green spaces. The initiative includes a new specific budget for youth projects and requires public voting to determine which proposals will receive funding.

The city of Haarlem has launched the Noord aan Zet initiative, inviting residents, local entrepreneurs, and community organizations to propose projects that improve the social, green, or recreational aspects of Haarlem Noord. Eligible neighborhoods for this round include Delftwijk, Vondelkwartier, Vogelenwijk, and Spaarndam-West. For the first time, the program introduces Jong aan Zet, a special category providing a dedicated 10,000 euro budget for residents aged 16 to 27 to foster youth-led improvements in their neighborhoods.

Interested parties can submit their proposals online from September 7 to September 27. Projects must gather at least 50 supporting votes to be considered for a feasibility review by the municipality, which assesses factors such as costs and practical execution. Following this assessment, a public voting round will take place in December for residents aged 16 and older. The projects receiving the most votes will be funded and implemented, provided they remain within the neighborhood budget limits.
