NOS to broadcast Eurovision, but broadcasters to choose artist together

The NPO has announced a new organizational structure for the Eurovision Song Contest, assigning broadcasting duties to the NOS while tasking a committee of experts with selecting the Dutch artist. This change replaces the previous model where a single broadcaster handled both responsibilities and shifts funding to an overarching budget.
The Dutch public broadcaster NPO has announced a new strategy for the Eurovision Song Contest, separating the broadcasting duties from the selection of the national representative. While the NOS will handle the broadcast of the two semi-finals and the grand final on NPO 1, including commentary and pre-show coverage, a newly formed committee of experts will oversee the selection of the artist. This committee, comprised of members chosen through consultation with various broadcasters, will also provide guidance to the chosen performer.
This structural change marks a departure from recent years where AVROTROS managed both the broadcast and the contestant selection. According to NPO media director Jurre Bosman, the costs associated with participation will be funded by an overarching budget rather than a single broadcaster. The 2027 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, with the semi-finals set for May 11 and 13 and the grand finale on May 15.
