Singer Roxeanne Hazes has released her new album, Tranen In De Giftshop, after overcoming creative doubts and focusing on a more authentic, nostalgic sound. The record features deeply personal tracks covering themes of grief, motherhood, and overcoming past domestic abuse.
Dutch artist Roxeanne Hazes has released her new album, Tranen In De Giftshop, after a period of intense self-reflection. Hazes struggled with the creative direction of the project, initially leaning toward experimental sounds before realizing she needed to connect with her own musical influences, such as Fleetwood Mac and Lana Del Rey. By collaborating closely with her long-term band, she developed a nostalgic sound that she feels authenticates her identity without the need for masking performances. The album explores deeply personal themes, including processing the grief of her late father, the challenges of parenting her young son, and surviving a past abusive relationship. Hazes intends for her music to offer comfort to those who may be experiencing similar isolation. Alongside her music, the singer has focused on personal growth, including performing in The Passion. She is now preparing for a theatrical tour where she will incorporate character work to bring the stories of her songs to life.
