Higher prison sentences on appeal for high-profile Cruquius mistaken identity kidnapping

An appeals court has increased the prison sentences to nearly five years for six men involved in the 2021 "mistaken kidnapping" of a 56-year-old man in Cruquius. The victim was held captive and mistreated for six days before his captors realized they had the wrong target and released him. The court ruled that the harsher penalties were necessary due to the extreme gravity of the crime and the significant impact it had on the victim.
