Alderman pushes through Brasapark sports field plan despite local opposition

Amsterdam Alderman Sofyan Mbarki has confirmed the development of new sports fields in Brasapark to address a lack of athletic facilities in the Zuidoost district. Despite local opposition over potential noise and traffic, the city plans to proceed with construction in 2028, including mitigation measures like a sound wall. The new park will serve as a permanent home for local hockey and American football clubs that currently use temporary locations.
