Supermarket worker sentenced to prison after escalated argument in store
A supermarket employee was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with six months suspended, for attempted manslaughter after striking a man on the head with a piece of wood during an argument. The victim suffered severe brain injuries and ongoing trauma, resulting in the court ordering the defendant to pay over €8,000 in damages. The perpetrator, who has a history of psychological and substance abuse issues, must also undergo mandatory treatment as part of his sentence.
