Construction of 6,500 homes in Hamerkwartier still possible after deal with chemical company Ketjen

The City of Amsterdam has reached an agreement with chemical company Ketjen to proceed with the construction of 6500 homes in the Hamerkwartier district, following a previous legal block over health and safety risks. The revised plan increases the buffer zone between residential towers and the chemical plant to at least 200 meters and includes additional investments in safety measures and a new waterfront park. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with the first homes expected to be completed by 2030.
