Widower at trial for fatal garbage truck accident: I can forgive the driver

Dutch prosecutors have demanded 240 hours of community service and a one-year driving ban for a garbage truck driver who fatally struck a 69-year-old American woman in Amsterdam in October 2024. The prosecution argues the driver was negligent while turning against traffic, although the defendant maintains he never saw the pedestrian. During the trial, the victim's widower traveled from the United States to testify and expressed that he forgives the driver for the accident.
