'Some shells have been there for a hundred million years. Bizarre, right?' National Shell Counting Day at Wijk aan Zee beach

The fifth National Shell Counting Day took place across beaches in the Netherlands, including a counting event at Wijk aan Zee. Participants were instructed to collect shells randomly within a specific area to provide an unbiased sample for scientific observation. The event aims to document the diversity and history of shells found along the Dutch coast.
