IJburg home closed for three months after discovery of cannabis farm

Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema has closed a residence in the IJburg neighborhood for three months following the discovery of a professional cannabis plantation containing 605 plants. Police found the illegal setup, which included manipulated electricity meters and irrigation equipment, during a search of the property on Edmond Halleylaan. The closure is intended to mitigate risks such as fire hazards and criminal activity associated with large-scale drug cultivation in residential areas.
