At least 44,000 Amsterdammers married to someone of the same sex

A CBS study reveals that Amsterdam has the highest number of same-sex marriages in the Netherlands, with at least 44,000 residents married to a partner of the same sex. The city is preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first same-sex wedding on April 1, an event originally officiated by then-mayor Job Cohen. To mark the jubilee, Mayor Femke Halsema will officiate three new weddings at midnight next Wednesday.
