The sad side of spring: dozens of orphaned chicks brought to bird hospital

The Bird Hospital in Haarlem is experiencing an influx of orphaned ducklings whose mothers have frequently been killed by traffic or other animals. Staff are raising the ducklings with minimal human contact to prevent imprinting, ensuring they can eventually be safely released back into the wild. Once the birds reach a healthy weight and are fully feathered, they will be returned to nature to live independently.
