GGD: No evidence of increased lung cancer risk in North due to industry

A GGD study found no evidence that industrial emissions are responsible for the significantly higher lung cancer rates in the Amsterdam-Noord district. While cancer rates in the area are well above the national average, research suggests smoking is the primary cause as specific mutations linked to air pollution were not more prevalent than elsewhere. Despite these findings, local officials stated they will continue to push for the reduction of industrial emissions in the region.
