Code yellow for 'unpleasant, oppressive heat'

The KNMI has issued a code yellow alert for the Netherlands as temperatures are expected to reach up to 35 degrees Celsius this Thursday and Friday. The extreme heat and high humidity have triggered the National Heat Plan, with Amsterdam opening walk-in centers to provide cool shelter for homeless individuals. Authorities warn of health risks like dehydration and overheating, particularly for vulnerable groups and those performing strenuous activities.
