Ajax fan severely beaten after trying to retrieve stolen scarf, police release footage

An Ajax fan suffered a concussion and facial injuries after being violently assaulted by two men who stole his promotional scarf near the Johan Cruijff Arena in January. Police have released security footage of the incident and are seeking the public's help to identify the suspects, who they believe may also be Ajax supporters.

Following an Eredivisie match between Ajax and Go Ahead Eagles on January 17, an Ajax fan was severely assaulted near the Bijlmer Arena station in Amsterdam. The victim and his friends had been approached by two men who demanded a commemorative scarf that had been distributed to attendees earlier that day. After forcibly taking the scarf, the suspects were pursued by one of the victims, leading to a violent altercation where the fan was kicked repeatedly in the head.

The victim sustained serious injuries during the attack, including a concussion, facial wounds, and broken teeth, leaving him briefly unconscious. Police have since released surveillance footage of the incident in hopes of identifying the perpetrators. Authorities believe the suspects may also be fans of Ajax and have issued a public appeal for information to assist in the ongoing investigation. The police are urging anyone who recognizes the individuals in the footage to come forward to help ensure the suspects are held accountable for the assault.
