More victims come forward to Sexual Assault Center: "I can tell my story here"

The Sexual Assault Center in Amsterdam has helped over 800 victims since opening its first physical location in late 2024. A new report confirms the facility's effectiveness in providing multi-disciplinary care, though officials are working to increase outreach to underrepresented groups like migrants and the LGBTQ+ community.

Since opening its doors in Amsterdam in October 2024, the Sexual Assault Center (CSG) walk-in facility has supported 813 victims. Located on Elisabeth Wolffstraat, it is the only CSG site in the Netherlands providing a physical space where survivors can access multi-disciplinary care, including medical, psychological, and legal assistance, as well as forensic examinations, all under one roof.

A recent report by the GGD highlights the facility's success, noting that its walk-in policy and collaborative environment significantly improve support for victims. While the center has proven to be a valuable resource for many, such as a survivor named Jeanine who found it a safe place to share her story, the research indicates that certain demographics—including men, the elderly, migrants, and LGBTQ+ individuals—remain underserved. In response, network coordinator Aukje Bosman stated that the center is actively working to improve outreach to these communities, including engagement with young refugees at reception centers.
